The abandoned mines in Ørsdalen

From the turn of the century and in periods until after World War II, there was mining in Ørsdalen. One of the old mines in Ørsdalen has now been renovated and secured. There is no general access for the public, but one can contact Bjerkreim cultural office to arrange for a guided tour.

Group size for guiding: From 2-20 people. Meeting at the parking lot at Hovland in Ørsdalen. Including a walk up and down to the mines, a guiding takes between 40 minutes to 1 hour. Everyone enters at their own risk; helmets and flashlights are lent out before departure. If very small children are to participate in the tour, our helmets may be a bit large. It is possible to use a private bicycle helmet for the smallest children.
