Storafjellet gapahuk

Storafjellet is a mountain peak that most people have driven past and undoubtedly seen along the E39. From Vikeså, there is a red-marked hiking trail up to the summit. In the year 2020, a lovely shelter/cabin was built at the top of the mountain, out on a "nose" that provides a very nice view down towards Vikeså.

In Dalane, we are used to heights and mountains. But that a peak of well over 500 meters is located right next to a kindergarten and residential area, and a stone's throw from a school and sports facilities, is not usual in Dalane. As far as we know, this is particularly unique to Bjerkreim. Thus, Storafjellet is one of the most visited hiking destinations in the village. Many get their daily exercise by climbing Storafjellet. From the top, you have an impressive view. From here, you can see Ålgård, the sea at Jæren, large parts of Dalane, and of course "all of Bjerkrei." You get a feeling of being able to look down on Solbergsniba!
