Solbjørgnipa from Kløgetvedt
Varied hike through cultural landscape
Hike description
Solbjørgnipa is a beautiful mountain hike in Bjerkreim that offers great views and varied terrain. The hike from Kløgetvedt is a nice alternative for those who want a somewhat longer and more challenging route than the hike from Solbjørg.
From the top, you get a view of the cultural landscape. The cairn on Solbjørgnipa is clearly visible in the terrain, and it is said that it may have previously been used as a fire lookout and landmark.
The hike starts at the parking lot 2 minutes from Kløgetvedttunet. There is plenty of parking space here, and at the start of the hike, you will find information boards that are worth checking out before you set off.
The first part of the hike goes on a tractor road through a gate and further towards cultivated land. From here, you follow the marked path further upwards. In some places, the marking can be a little unclear, especially at the beginning, so it might be wise to pay attention. As you gain altitude, the path and markings become easier to follow.
Along the way, you will encounter fence crossings, open heath sections, and nice viewpoints. The hike has a steady ascent and some steeper sections, but is manageable for most who are used to hiking in terrain. The last stretch towards the actual cairn is steep and goes over bare rock. Here, you should take your time, especially if it is wet or slippery. At the most exposed parts, chains have been set up that can be helpful.
Once at the top, the reward awaits: a beautiful cairn, a trail book, and a view that makes the hike well worth the effort.
