M/K Ørsdølen

Description

In the summer, you can experience the elongated Ørsdalsvatnet from the deck of the historic M/K Ørsdølen. Every Sunday until August, regular trips run through a dramatic landscape with steep mountain sides and clear traces of farming that extend several hundred years back in time.

The trip has stops at Dyrskog and Lauperak, before the boat docks at the innermost part of Ørsdalen, an area where bjerkreimsbuer have been farming since the 1600s. This is a quiet and atmospheric way to experience the natural and cultural history of the area.

If you are planning a celebration, company trip, or team building, you can rent the whole boat. There are full rights on board and in Lauperak, and the trip can be tailored to different occasions.

The Ørsdølen Boat Association owns and operates M/K Ørsdølen, and it was the last boat in organized scheduled traffic on a lake in Rogaland. The scheduled traffic was discontinued in 1983. The current boat is the third in a row, launched in 1964, after the first, Lillegutt, was put into service as early as 1900.
