Pittergarden

Beautiful Pittergarden is centrally located on Vikeså in Bjerkreim. The yard is typical of the farms that were built up in this part of Dalane in the 19th century.

Married couple Kari-Irene and Karl Emil Sødergren bought the farm in 2004, and have restored the buildings. For this work, they received the building practice award in Bjerkreim for 2007. Pittergarden is named after former owner Petter, who ran the farm the old-fashioned way with haystacks and sheep until he died aged 92. The facility bore the stamp of thrift, and the Sødergren couple have been careful to preserve the old while adding something new from our time.

Pittergarden is also a craft company that sews high-quality sheepskin products. No machines are used here. Everything is sewn by hand, and Kari-Irene is involved in the entire process from slaughter to finished leather. All skins come from sheep in the local area. The products can be bought on the farm by agreement, or ordered on the website.

Cultural activities such as concerts, theater performances or closed parties are arranged in the shelter and in the yard. Løa offers fantastic time travel, and here nothing is left to chance. Pittergarden also accepts groups that want to hire the premises for team building. Here you can combine strategy meetings with bow and arrow, and if you’re lucky, you’ll get to try your hand against the champion at the Pittergarden Longbow Team!

The couple also organizes the riding course “Be safe with horses”. The course is specially designed for children aged seven and over.

Pittergården is open by appointment.
