Lanesstølen

After many years as a forgotten pile of stones, Lanesstølen on the southern side of Vinjakula has been restored. Here you can hike up for a day visit or stay overnight. The mountain pasture cabin accommodates three adults and one child, and in the hedlar (the small annex) there is sleeping space for two adults.

Rebuilt with Traditional Craftsmanship
The mountain pasture cabin (støl) has been rebuilt using timber from the forests of Veen Farm, following the traditional grindabygg (post-and-beam) construction method. The craftsmanship and materials were carefully chosen to preserve the authentic expression and connect the project to local history.
The rebuilding was carried out on a voluntary basis by members of the Association for Mountain Pasture Life and Outdoor Activities in Inner Gjesdal, with support from Bjerkreim Municipality through the SMIL program (Special Environmental Measures in Agriculture).

Open to Everyone
The støl is open to all who wish to experience history and nature up close. It serves as a warming hut for the supervision of grazing animals, while also being a popular hiking and recreation destination.
New, marked trails connect the støl to the summit hike up Vinjakula and other routes in the surrounding area.

A Few but Important Rules

1. Overnight stays are reserved for landowners, local sheep farmers, and members of the association.
2. Overnight stays are limited to the period April 15 to October 15.
3. Sheep farmers have priority when booking in connection with animal supervision and gathering.
4. All overnight stays must be registered via the booking page.
5. The støl buildings must always remain accessible for day visitors. This means:

   • The building must be tidy and open to everyone between 10:00 and 18:00.

   • Setting up for overnight stays must wait until after 18:00.
