Eikeknuten is a hidden gem in Ørsdalen. Here you can enjoy panoramic views of Ørsdalen and Ørsdalsvatnet.
Summary of the hike
The trip starts at the parking lot right after the tunnel from Stavtjørn. Follow the marked path towards Kvitlen tourist cabin until you reach Laugarvatnet. Then go south-east up the mountainside. The terrain is hilly and demanding. When you reach the top, then follow the rock formation in a south-westerly direction until you reach the viewpoint.
The trip up to Eikeknuten is a demanding one regardless of the season. We recommend going for a walk when the weather is nice and the visibility is good. Remember to bring both a map and a compass.
Winter: It is possible to go hike this route in the winter, but it is recommended to hike when there is little snow. Consider the snow conditions before embarking on this trip. There are several steep areas where there may be an associated risk of avalanches. You may want to bring both spikes and snowshoes.
